Role Overview
As a Die Setter, you will be a critical part of our single-source solution, ensuring our complex plastic programs—from part design to low-volume production—run with precision and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Setup & Teardown: Safely install and remove injection mold dies from presses according to production schedules.
- Equipment Calibration: Connect water, hydraulic, and electrical lines; set up auxiliary equipment (thermoculators, dryers, grinders).
- Process Optimization: Assist in establishing machine parameters and troubleshooting cycles to meet quality standards for prototype and certified production parts.
- Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance on molds and equipment; ensure all safety gates and mechanisms are functional.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of setups, tool conditions, and process adjustments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience as a Die Setter or Setup Technician in an injection molding environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the rigorous quality standards of the Automotive, Aerospace, or Defense sectors.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with overhead cranes, forklifts, and hand tools used in mold installation.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering and production teams.
- Tech Savvy: Basic computer proficiency to interface with manufacturing software and digital work instructions.
- Precision: Ability to handle complex tooling for low-volume, high-complexity plastic programs including prototype tools with hand load inserts and production tools with hydraulic action.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for flaws or defects to ensure they meet stringent aerospace and defense standards.
- Reliability: Commitment to a 6:00 AM start time and a "right-first-time" mentality.
