Schedule: 40–50 hours/week; Overtime paid after 40 hours

Position Overview:

The Sheet Metal Inspection Technician will support prototype and production operations in our low volume/high mix manufacturing facility supporting the Automotive, Aerospace, and Defense Industries.  We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Inspection Technician to support our manufacturing operations. This role involves performing precision inspections of sheet metal components, conducting part buy-offs, and using advanced 3D scanning equipment such as the Keyence VL-700. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and experienced in working with formed and fabricated metal parts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect sheet metal parts and assemblies to verify conformance with engineering drawings and specifications.
• Perform buy-off inspections for internal release and customer acceptance.
• Operate and maintain blue light scanning equipment (e.g., Keyence VL-700) for high-accuracy dimensional inspection.
• Analyze scanned data and compare to 3D CAD models using inspection software.
• Apply GD&T principles to evaluate and document critical dimensions and tolerances.
• Accurately document inspection results and generate inspection reports.
• Communicate quality issues clearly with production, engineering, and management teams.
• Assist in maintaining inspection equipment and ensuring calibration standards are met.
• Support process improvements and contribute to the overall quality goals of the sheet metal department.

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of inspection experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in GD&T and capable of interpreting complex technical drawings.
• Hands-on experience with Keyence VL-700 or similar blue light 3D scanning equipment.
• Familiarity with inspection and measurement techniques for sheet metal parts (bent, formed, welded, etc.).
• Ability to use standard measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using Keyence or other dimensional analysis software.
• Working knowledge of CAD formats (STEP, IGES) and basic CAD navigation.
• Familiar with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
