RCO Aerospace has an opening for an Aerospace Master Production Scheduler within our growing team, at our Roseville, MI location. Since 2008, RCO Aerospace has produced highly engineered luxury aircraft seats. The Aerospace Master Production Scheduler will create and manage increasing production schedules to meet customer demand efficiently while minimizing inventory.
The Master Production Scheduler develops, implements, and maintains the master production schedule (MPS) to meet customer delivery expectations for complex, low-volume, high-mix aerospace seating products. This role is responsible for balancing customer demand, engineering design changes, material availability, and finite production capacity. The Master Production Scheduler will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and play a central role in the company's Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SI&OP) process.
Reports to: Materials Manager
Day in the life:
- Building and maintaining customer relationships
- Reviewing demand forecasts and establishing long-term production plans
- Optimizing levels of finished goods inventory to align with demand forecasts
Planning and scheduling
- Create and manage a long-range, rolling MPS that translates customer orders and sales forecasts into a feasible manufacturing plan.
- Analyze engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) to determine specific material and capacity requirements for each unique seat configuration.
- Perform rough-cut capacity planning to evaluate production capabilities against the schedule, identifying and mitigating bottlenecks in work centers like fabrication, upholstery, and final assembly.
- Lead the demand and operations planning processes by collaborating with Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing to align all departments on a single executable schedule.
Operational coordination
- Serve as the central point of contact for contracts, procurement, and production regarding new orders, design changes, and schedule modifications.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely ordering and delivery of raw materials, prioritizing based on the production schedule and vendor lead times.
- Proactively identify potential supply chain risks, such as material shortages or supplier delays, and develop recovery plans to minimize impact on customer delivery dates.
- Generate and track manufacturing work orders to manage the flow of materials through the various stages of the production cycle.
Performance monitoring and reporting
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as schedule adherence, on-time delivery, and production cycle times.
- Maintain accurate planning parameters, such as lead times and resource data, within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, EPICOR.
- Prepare and present schedule performance reports and risk assessments to senior management during SI&OP meetings.
- Use data to analyze root causes of scheduling problems and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and forecast accuracy.
Regulatory compliance
- Ensure all scheduling and production activities comply with strict aerospace and aviation regulations (e.g., FAA) and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that production schedules account for inspection hold points and required sign-offs.
