Aerospace Manufacturing/Assembly Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing/Assembly Engineer to join our team and help us achieve the next level of operational excellence.
The Manufacturing/Assembly Engineer will be a critical member of our operations team, driving process improvements across our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for analyzing and optimizing production processes, managing corrective and preventative action efforts, and improving inventory control to enhance overall efficiency, quality, and productivity. This role has 1 direct report with additions to the team as we grow.
Duties:
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Improvement:
- Identify, analyze, and implement process improvements using methodologies like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of existing workflows to identify and eliminate bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and production teams to integrate new processes and products into the manufacturing area seamlessly.
- Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA):
- Lead and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) exercises to address and resolve defects and non-conformances.
- Support the quality team in investigating and resolving customer complaints related to manufacturing processes.
- Implement effective corrective and preventive actions to ensure long-term process stability and prevent recurrence of issues.
- Inventory Management:
- Analyze and optimize material movements and transactions to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency.
- Implement and maintain inventory control strategies to ensure stock integrity and accuracy within the plant.
- Collaborate with suppliers and the purchasing team to improve material handling processes.
- Documentation and Training:
- Author, maintain, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
- Develop and deliver training programs to production personnel on new processes and procedures.
- Project Management:
- Manage and support implementation of new equipment, tooling, and fixtures to enhance manufacturing processes.
- Monitor and track project status to ensure timely and accurate completion.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering: Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the aerospace or automotive industry.
- Proven experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Familiarity with inventory management principles and systems (e.g., ERP/MRP).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams from stakeholders on the floor up to executive leadership.
