Job Overview:
RCO Engineering has an immediate opening for Plant Cost Accountant to assist our Corporate Controller in compiling and analyzing financial information to recommend actions to management. Well-qualified candidates will have strong cost accounting skills including experience with low volume/high mix manufacturing corporations and be able to successfully communicate findings to finance and non-finance stakeholders; managers to executive leadership.
Core Responsibilities
The Plant Cost Accountant works closely with Inventory, the Materials and Production Teams, to prepare statements and reports that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines under the supervision of the Controller. The Plant Cost Accountant is responsible for complete financial analysis of manufacturing operations as well as the development and implementation of cost-saving measures to improve margins.
- Pull Inventory reports for analysis
- Track raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Review BOM costs and resolve errors
- Interface with operations and the materials teams to evaluate financial issues and data.
- Provide analysis and other support to various members of the management team.
- Collaborate with operations to identify inefficient production processes and make recommendations for improvements.
- Assist in preparation of month end financial presentations, including performing variance analysis.
- Provide commentary for significant variances.
- Plans, studies and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material
- Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided to determine effects on costs and updates cost standards
- Track all production costs for gross margin and profitability of individual products and lines.
- Compiles cost information to be used in operating budget preparation
- Makes estimates of new and proposed product or service costs and provide recommendations on business decisions such as pricing.
- Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products and services
- Analyzes data obtained and records results and periodically measures the performance of past decisions.
- Gather supporting documentation and post journal entries.
- Assist with monthly and year-end closings, including preparation of month-end financial statements.
- Perform G/L account reconciliations, including identifying, evaluating, and resolving reconciling items.
- Prepare job costing analysis.

- Ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
- Support compliance with RCO Quality Policies.
- Support RCO continuous improvement initiative.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 5 - 10 Years Manufacturing Accounting Experience.
- Manufacturing background required. Candidates without manufacturing experience WILL NOT be considered.
- Experience as a Cost Accountant or similar position.
- ERP data extrapolation for reports
- Understanding of data analysis and forecasting. Leverages data driven decisions.
- Microsoft Office Systems and Accounting Software.
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, reporting etc.)
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong accounting analysis skills.
- Generate reports for performance metric and makes sense of the data.
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization; plant floor to executive board.
Education:
- Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Professional certification a plus.
