Position:  4- axis CNC Programmer/Machinist

Department:  Prototype Machine Shop

Location: Milford, MI

Hours:  Monday Friday: 6am - 2:30pm or 7am - 3:30pm

Position Summary:

As the CNC Programmer/ Machinist you will be responsible for taking jobs from 3D model or blueprints and produce finished parts.  Prior build to print precision machining is important.  The successful candidate will be able to run a job from prints, program the machines IMakino), change tools, understand pre-setters.  They will work with 5 other machinists with the supervision of a Team Lead who distributes the work.  Each project might be a couple hours, days or weeks.  When the job is complete the Team Lead will assign another - there is very little monotony in this group as the jobs keep changing. 

Purpose:

The group works within the machine shop on prototype parts.  Frequent fabrication and part modifications are made.  CNC milling, grinding, HAAS lathes.  

Environment:

Clean, Air conditioned shop.

Responsibilities:

•         Programing, setup tooling, basic inspection and finishing of the parts

•         Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, and material

           specifications

•         Program mills, utilizing manual G-Code Programming and CAM systems

•         Maintains part specifications by adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes

•         Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements specified by the

           manufacturer’s instructions.

•         Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership and exploring opportunities to

           add value to the team

Required Skills/Experience:

•         Minimum of 7 years machining experience necessary or equivalent

•         Significant CAM software experience preferably with Master cam

•         Sufficient 3D surfacing skills

•         Tooling speeds and feeds selection responsibility

•         Manual Mill and Lathe Experience

•         4 axis CNC Programming and operation

•         Utilization of GD&T standards

•         Interpersonal skills required to work with others from various disciplines and cultures.

•         Strong organizational skills to communicate technical data to colleagues and leadership

•         Must be willing and able to work days and afternoon shifts as required to meet demands

•         Strong level of analytical thinking

•         The successful candidate will have to successfully pass a driver’s abstract and background      

           check including drug screen

Preferred Skills/Experience:

•         General Machinist: Prototrak, manual mills and lathes, flow waterjet, blanchard grinder, EDM

•         Welder/Fabricator

•         Familiar with NX and TeamCenter       

•         CNC lathe programming and operation experience

•        Okuma lathe

•        FDM Operator/Programmer
