Position: Bumper to Bumper Automotive Diesel Testing and Repair including trailers
Location: GM Milford Proving Grounds, MI
Duration: Long term
Shift: 1st – two options.
1st: 6:00 am – 2:30am either 4, 10 hour days or 5, 8 hour days
Monday – Thursday or Tuesday – Friday.
Travel: May be required to travel for supporting test ride groups supporting 12 – 15 trips/year anywhere in the US (Colorado, Florida, Texas, California) for up to 2 weeks at a time.
Technicians follow the engineering team in a vehicle, loaded with tools, techs will be responsible for repairs along the way or notifications, expected to repair trailers, also.
Pay: Based on experience.
OVERVIEW
The Diesel Automotive Technician works bumper to bumper to repair vehicles, perform engine work and spots, cab offs are a part of the everyday routine. The team currently has 4 engine swaps in the queue with changeovers. They do not do internal transmission repair, but they do everything else: wire harness, install instrumentation, etc. Successful candidates with be familiar with diagnostics and fabrication, love working on diesel engines, and be a collaborative team player, and enjoy some work travel.
Environment:
2 Teams – 2 garages that the manager currently oversees: diesel and certification garage
This position is specifically for the diesel garage
Typical Day:
Report to the garage and continue where you left off from the previous day,
The Team Lead assigns a work ticket which could be an entire vehicle or a piece of the vehicle. The Team Lead will give an overview of the ticket and what needs to be done, The Tech will go get the vehicle from the lot and bring it into the garage, put it on a lift, and work on what is needed.
Work ticket by ticket. The work varies so much that we cannot put a number on how many work tickets they will see on a daily/weekly basis.
