Location:  GM Milford Proving Grounds, MI

Duration: Long term

Shift:

1st - 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

2nd - 3:30 pm - 12am

Pay:  Based on experience.

OVERVIEW

The Dynamometer/NVH Lab Technician ensures 1st time quality and on-time delivery of test data for various test areas.  They support engineering that are responsible for meeting federal requirements.  Technicians demonstrate a high level of communication and effectively handle multiple projects with minimal supervision during the vehicle development process. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Validation Test Engineer (VTE), you will be planning, developing methods, and carrying out system and component-level testing in world-class labs. This is a hands-on position. In this role crucial skills like creativity, independent judgement, and multi-functional teamwork are prized and can be further developed. You will operate with design & validation technical specialists, systems engineers, lab integration engineers, and technicians to bring exciting products to market. Engineers in this role may have opportunity for growth and develop into Lead System Test Engineers (LSTE). LSTE's learn leadership skills and will be engaged in programs throughout the development lifecycle. It is a great way to get involved with mentoring other VTEs, while also developing new and/or special validation tests and fixtures; just to name a few.

TYPICAL DAY: 

•  Daily breakdown – training initially. 
• Have a shift handoff meeting.  For 2^nd shift, 1^st shift would come in and get the notes from the second shift of what they did, installing vehicles on the dynos, getting vehicles prepped, running tests and removing the vehicle from the dyno and removing instrumentation
•  Interaction level with the team – primarily running their own dyno but there are other people around support staff that can help them.
• There are 2 buildings: Both buildings have other technicians ~15 techs., a group leader, and a team leader.  They will be working alongside other technicians

 

MUST HAVE: 

• Strong baseline automotive background
• Technician background or has worked in the technician industry, worked at an auto-mechanics shop 
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a successful Technician (hobbyist level experience is applicable) 
• Must be very knowledgeable, diverse, and flexible 
• Someone with a strong passion for the automotive industry 
• Seeking demonstrated successful customer interface skills
